Lord Supper Service at Aspen Park

The Lord gives us three suppers to reference. May each of us make sure we are a part of all three suppers. It starts with the first one.

Choir and Nicole move the House

Some say choirs are dead in church. Well not at Aspen Park! This morning our worship choir did a great job starting off the service in a patriotic way. Some might say “but Tom you are the director you have to say nice things”. Ok then let’s let the church talk. Before the song was even over there was hootin’ and hollerin’ in addition to applause. In fact before the cut off on the last chord the people were applauding in support and excitement. The choir at Aspen Park continues to evolve but it is definitely not dead.

The service continued with great congregational music that brought people to their feet without a word from me. The excitement spilled out of their spirits and into the service. Then the culmination of the first part of the service was Nicole singing “Revelation Song”. Wow what a beautiful way to bring in the sermon. Nicole your rendition with our band was great and one that people are still commenting on through emails. Even though people thank me for the music I know it’s because I serve with great people wanting to serve their God with their talents.

If you are looking for a God-filled church to worship in check out Aspen Park in Broken Arrow. Each and every Sunday is a new and unexpected worship experience. You never know what is going to happen from one service to the extension.

Great Night in Gods House

Tonight I was again reminded why I am the lucky one to serve at Aspen Park. As the almost 2 and 1/2 hour practice started I thought “This could be a long evening”. We had so much to accomplish and people were home sick, coming off surgeries, out of town and even just tired.

But very quickly I was noticing that this was shaping up to be a special night. Praise Team started it off by working hard through tough settings. We have a brand new stage design and sound setup and that made things more complicated. But the Praise Team and instrumentalists rose to the occasion.

Then the choir came in and it expanded from there. You worked hard and proved why each week the music is so good. It comes from your heart. We quickly cleaned up the Palm Sunday special and moved on to Easter music. You jumped on those songs and Easter is going to be awesome.

I showed you the video clip that will be on Easter because I felt you were ready for it. You were and Easter is going to rock.

Thank you musicians and crew. It is fun working alongside such passionate and hard working people.

Matthew 27:45-47

Where there is an absence of Jesus there is a presence of darkness.

Life without Jesus is like walking in the dark. We trip on everything.

1. Out of the darkness of sky came a voice.
Psalm 22:1

Forsaken – used like you would abandon a ship. We hear desertion and despair.

God the Father forsook Jesus because of what He became. He became sin for each one of us. He didn’t become a sinner – He became sin.

2. Out of the darkness of sin comes a victory.

Jesus died as a substitute. Sin was punished that day because of Jesus’ act.

I Love My Church part 2
Ecclesiastes 9:10
I will be passionate about it

1. The purpose that defines where our passion and love come from.

A. Finding Gods purpose with a passion for our life.

B. Following Gods purpose with a passion for our life.

What are you doing with your life? God created me with a purpose in mind. What an awesome and unbelievable thought.

Ephesians 5:17 Find what Gods will is for my life and DO IT!

1st John 2:15 It is the purpose that defines all we do.

2. The passion that describes what we do.

A. Gods work deserves our passion.

B. Gods work demands our passion.

3. The period of time that determines what we do with passion.

A. The opportunity that exists.

B. The opportunity that ends.

It exists now in the present. This moment is the only one we are assured.

I Love My Church part 1

This morning we kicked off a month of “I Love My Church”. But it’s more than a just a cool place to attend.

The music rocked and thank you so much to the Praise Team for that stirring a Capella song. You are such a versatile Music Ministry and really encompass the title Worship Arts.

Then Bro. David brought the Word. I am so looking forward to learning how I can love my church (God) even more than I already do. Here are a few reminders of todays message.

1. Happy is the believer who gives his church his loving affection. Ephesians 5:25

2. Happy is the believer who gives his church his loyal allegiance. Nehemiah 10:39

3. Happy is the believer who gives his church his lasting attendance.

Forgiveness

This morning Bro. David brought Gods Word on how we should forgive. This forgiveness is not just because God has forgiven us but also “how” He has forgiven us. In the Bible Peter thought he knew the answer but as we saw this morning forgiveness is based on the reason and heart and not on the system.

This past week each one of us has had someone burn us in a way that hurt us. It maybe as small as a mean word or could be a serious situation that is causing ongoing hurt. If we compare those hurt moments with how we hurt God then we have an interesting comparison.

Sometimes we hurt God by saying a mean word to someone or by even a mean look. We are representatives of God and what we do helps or hurts His witness to others. But their are times we hurt God by seriously doing things over and over that are offensive and God keeps forgiving us when we ask for forgiveness. That is the example we must follow when it comes to forgiving others.

As we prepare for next weeks service and sermon on missions I encourage each of us to make sure we are forgiving others and seeking forgiveness just as God has forgiven us.

Stand Up and Be Counted

Bro. David brought the Word today. How do people know if you are a Christian? That is a powerful question that each one of us should answer not only for ourselves but even more importantly for God. He already knows the answer but I believe He would love to hear what we think the answer is. Thank you Bro. David for preaching in such a powerful way. But then again you do that every week. Thank you musicians, vocal and instrumental, for bringing it again. Your leadership is unsurpassed by any musicians anywhere. But also thank you to those that worshipped at Aspen Park today. Your smiles, singing and worship attitude was a refreshing time in the sight of our Lord. Keep up the commitment week from week and I know God will be smiling on all that we do. Bro. Tom
